Pretty in Pink Dessert Table

Given the recent frenzy of blog posts, it's obvious that I've finally found some time to devote to this blog! Some of you may know that October was a crazy month of baking for me.  I did my first official afternoon tea function followed immediately by baby girl's first birthday!

Although its now December (well, the end of December to be precise) and I'm finally able to blog about baby girl's birthday, which ended up being a baking extravaganza!  I feel like the many many months of previous baking was leading up all to this moment! To create an extraordinary dessert table!  I decided to go all out, I mean, how often does baby girl turn one?!

The theme was pink, pink being my favourite colour, and therefore baby girl's favourite colour by default!  It took some careful planning to create different pink desserts with different flavours.  The last thing I wanted to do was to simply dye everything pink, that would be boring (although admittedly, a lot easier)!

Of course, the pink ombre cake was the main celebratory cake! For some reason, this and red velvet cupcakes are the two favourite things I like to bake.
It was a crazy couple of days of baking!  In addition to baking the pink ombre cake (consisting of four sponges), I also baked two double layered devil's chocolate cake with raspberry frosting...

48 red velvet cupcakes with pink cream cheese frosting...

40 passionfruit macarons...
40 raspberry macarons...
a white chocolate and macadamia caramel slice (with pink frosting)...
30 strawberry tarts...
and of course, pink fairy bread!
Needless to say, all our guests ended up in a sugar coma!

It's going to be pretty hard to top this birthday!
Happy first birthday baby girl xx
