The name Sweet Pea is inspired
by my baby girl as is the idea to bake, which I started sometime when my girl was 8 weeks
old (I know, as if looking after an 8 week old is not enough of a challenge on
its own). Before my baby girl arrived,
you would never have found me in the kitchen, in fact I loathed it. However, my husband and I had decided that it
was time our culinary skills improve as we often looked back on our childhoods with
all the cooking and baking our mothers used to do, and thought how dismal would
it be if our baby girl looked back on her childhood and remembers eating only spaghetti
bolognaise every night, such was the extent of our cooking (and that’s an exaggeration
because I can’t even cook bolognaise, only husband can).
Once I stepped into the kitchen, I had every intention of expanding my repertoire. But I found that I was leaning more and more to baking sweets, in particular pastries. So this blog is intended to document the journey involved in improving on my sweet creations.
Being a novice home baker, I’m
learning as I go, so if you can suggest improvements, please do, I welcome all
feedback!
